In Texas, when it is 24 degrees outside, school is closed due to icy road conditions, the heater is on the fritz - you just spend the entire day in pajamas!! Napping is welcomed, because it's warm under those covers!
The boys both LOVE Calvin and Hobbes.
the fake-hug only for my benefit :-)
Wyatt got his mad dancin' skills from his mom. sorry kid!
And a nap to finish it all off! the boys are sharing the double bed until we get railings built for the new loft bed.

Sandra - does this outfit look familiar?! Still getting lots of love here!
Wyatt getting a guitar lesson. He has definitely shown a lot of interest in music. He like to sing, dance, play the guitar and piano.
Taylor helping to rake the leaf pile in Oma's yard.
My bright-eyed baby!
Oma, Opa, and all the boys - mostly looking at the camera! Success!
leafy fun!
Wyatt prefers to ride the trails on his balance bike. sidewalks are boring.
Snacks are required after a ride, or pretty much anytime..
And that was January... :) Nursing school takes up entirely too much time :) The blog is suffering!

Taylor got a red rock climbing harness at REI this weekend. He was so proud of it he wore it out of the store and to the grocery store.
We hauled all our gear down to the easiest climbs at Reimer's ranch. We even hauled a jogging stroller so we would have a safe place for Wyatt to hang out while Tim and I were on-rope. The kids really enjoyed the 'little' (45 min) hike in and liked playing in the chalk piles we found.
And about ten minutes later, Taylor leaned backward on the rock he was sitting on as he watched Tim set up the first climb. Taylor rolled backward down a pile of rocks and ended up looking like this:
It bled and bled and bled and bled and bled some more. We loaded everything and everyone out (took 2 trips and over an hour) and went to Austin to get it looked at. Two stitches later, it looks like this:
I didn't take any pictures of the gray hairs Tim and I got this weekend. Whew. We all made it home safe and sound. Taylor never got a chance to use his cool new harness this weekend... but we're going to try again soon.
**funny story** Tim stayed in the car with sleeping Wyatt, while I took Taylor into the ER. It took about an hour and when we got out to the car Tim asked how Taylor was. Taylor's answer " I'm fine dad, I got a mint!!". Clearly, he's not permanently traumatized by the fall or the stitches :)
Here's to a happy and healthy and E.R. free new year!!!

I'm exhausted and need a break from winter break!!
We've been trying to cram a lot of fun into the little time I have off. Birthdays, Holidays, reconnecting with long lost and neglected friends.
A dinosaur party for the boys birthdays.
We dug for dino bones:
Taylor and I had a date to the Museum of Natural Science and Amy's Ice Cream.
We visited the new African exhibit at the Houston Zoo and had a great time watching our distant cousins (the chimps) use tools to fish blueberry puree out of a feaux termite mound and frolick in the amazing enclosure.
Today I took the boys to "holiday Acres Tree Farm'. We actually already had our tree, but they have so many fun activities for little hooligans, we spent two hours hayriding, building scarecrows, roasting marshmallows, sledding down dirt hills (you northerners can laugh now), and jumping on haybales. This farm is a family operation and they really make you feel so welcome! Free cocoa and hot cider (you know, cause it was 78 F, we had to warm up!)) capped off the afternoon.

I cut the bangs and trim the sides. But, that's about all he puts up with. So - his hair is halfway down him back now. He wants long hair. I don't really care, except I want easy maintenance (his hair doesn't tangle). I've searched the net for pictures to emulate - anyone have any ideas?
**sigh** I'm going to have to pay for a haircut for the boy. Our sole visit to a kids-cut place ended up looking worse than my home-haircuts. Wonder what my stylist charges for a kids-cut?
